よくある質問 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- Why was my household selected for this survey?
- We ideally want to survey everyone, but that would be too expensive and require too many people. So, we survey a small number of households and use those answers to estimate the situation for everyone. Specifically, we randomly chose 1,000 areas from the areas used in the 2025 National Survey of Living Conditions. We are asking people who live in those areas to answer this survey. Your area was chosen as part of this process. As this is an important national survey that helps inform government policy, we sincerely request your cooperation.
- What date should I use when answering?
- Please provide information as of June 30, 2025.
- What if I'm unsure how to answer some questions?
- Please call our survey call center (the phone number shown at the bottom of this page) or ask the survey staff member who delivered your questionnaire.
- Is participation mandatory?
- While participation is voluntary, this survey is designed using statistical methodology to accurately understand marriage and childbirth trends across Japan. Your response helps ensure that government policies can effectively address real needs in our society. We greatly appreciate your cooperation in this important national research.
- What if I don't have internet access?
- While participation is voluntary, this survey is designed using statistical methodology to accurately understand marriage and childbirth trends across Japan. Your response helps ensure that government policies can effectively address real needs in our society. We greatly appreciate your cooperation in this important national research.
- How is my personal information protected?
- Your privacy is protected by law. All responses are strictly confidential and handled according to the Statistics Act (Act No. 53 of May 23, 2007). Survey forms remain sealed until reaching our institute, and online responses are encrypted. We use the data only for statistical purposes, and results are processed to prevent any individual identification.
- Will my responses be used for tax purposes?
- No. The Statistics Act strictly prohibits using survey responses for any purpose other than creating statistical data. Your answers will never be used for taxation or other administrative purposes.
- When will the results be available?
- We will publish preliminary results in summer 2026 on our institute's website. The comprehensive report will be released in summer 2027 and will be available through
- The government statistics portal (e-Stat)
