Population by Five-year Age Category and Sex--Regional Population Projection for Japan: 2010-2040

The target municipalities covered by Regional Population Projections for Japan: 2010-2040 are comprised of 1,799 municipalities (23 Tokyo special wards, 128 wards in 12 major cities*, 764 cities, 715 towns and 169 villages) by the boundaries as of March 1st of 2013 and 1 prefecture (Fukushima). However, this page reports the results for 1,811 municipalities (23 Tokyo special wards, 128 wards in 12 major cities, 776 cities including 12 major cities, 715 towns and 169 villages) and does not include municipalities in Fukushima prefecture for which the prefectural population overall was projected. The 12 major cities included Sapporo, Sendai, Chiba, Yokohama, Kawasaki, Nagoya, Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe, Hiroshima, Kitakyusyu and Fukuoka. For these 12 cities, the results are shown overall for the city and by ward. For Fukushima prefecture, please refer to the results by prefecture.


* Please select the name of the prefecture to which the desired municipalities belong. The Excel files are formed by several sheets one for each municipality and the sheets are sorted by the order of their ID. The correspondence between the ID numbers and the names of municipalities can be found here.
