Study on medical information systems in England and Germany

Akira Morita (Director-General) and Yumika Shirase (Senior Researcher, Department of Empirical Social Security Research) visited England and Germany to study medical information systems from 21 to 28 September 2014. This research focused on construction of an information and telecommunication infrastructure, importance of standards in healthcare, medical data collection and usage, electronic procurement and prescription systems, and an integrated circuit health insurance card. They discussed current situation and challenges with administrators, professionals and information technology companies in healthcare sector.
