Abstract:
Dr. He Lixin is Associate Professor and Vice Chair, Center for Public Economy Research, and School of Economics, Fudan University. Her research interests include the problem of income inequality,
public pension, and income maintenance policy under aging and changes in socioeconomic situation. Social insurance was introduced in China in the 1990's, and in recent years many policy symposiums
concerning the public pension and social security reform are being held due to the increasing concern for income inequality under rapid aging and economic growth. Dr. He earned Ph.D in Economics in Japan.
She is actively engaged in proposing policy options for the social security reform by making international comparisons in the policy discussions of China and the council of the local governments'
local finance bureaus based on her book entitled Public Pension System Reform of China. In this lecture, she will discuss the trend and problems of the social security reforms implemented in the recent ten years
including the new health care and pension system covering rural residents, and suggest the direction of the reform in the future.
