Title: " Japan: Imminently Aged: Lessons to be Drawn, Issues to Confront"
Peter Heller (Ph.D., Harvard University, 1972) is Senior Adjunct Professor of International Economics at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies of The Johns Hopkins University. He worked for the International Monetary Fund for twenty years (1995-2006) and successively held the Deputy Director of the Fiscal Affairs Department of IMF. He performed lots of studies and policy proposals in connection with the fiscal policy, social security, and social development policy for both advanced nations and developing countries. His areas of investigation are so various that can include the fiscal and monetary policy under the risk of the world economy, the balance between correction of income inequality and growth, the appropriate level of social security and social development, the demographic change and sustainability of social security financing, the spillover and international relations of economic and social policies, etc. These various researches were evaluated highly and he performs advanced research on these issues at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies of The Johns Hopkins University. He is now doing research abroad in Japan and tackling the research on present condition and subjects of aged society in Japan that has economic relation with both of advanced nations and developing countries.
