About the lecture:
There are many attempts to internationally compare the poverty and the inequality between developed countries of OECD and EU. Among the developed countries, Australia possesses unique character because, even though it is one of the Anglo-Saxon countries, it has constructed public pension and other social protection mechanisms which are quite different from other countries. This lecture, presented by one of the leading researcher on inequality, poverty and deprivation in Australia, focuses on the most recent development in inequality and poverty research down under.
About Prof. Saunders:
Prof. Saunders is one of the most renowned researchers on
poverty and deprivation in Australia and the world. He has been involved in
not only researches in Australia, but also internationally collaborative
research projects worldwide. Prof. Saunders serves as the Australian
counterpart to the OECD Income Distribution Project and Luxembourg Income
Study. He has also worked at OECD during the 1980s.
